2023: APC’s N77 trillion debt unacceptable, evidence of bad governance – PDP

…advises Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to step aside from Presidential race.

Delta State campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has urged Nigerians to vote out the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming general elections for mismanaging the nation’s national resources and for incurring a huge debt peofile of N77 trillion (Seventy seven trillion Naira).

Delta PDP campaign management Committee Spokesman, Latimore Oghenesivbe while speaking to newsmen at PDP campaign rally in Oghara township Stadium,  Ethiope West LGA, noted that the APC national government failed to fulfil all promises  made to Nigerians especially the inability to solve the problems of insecurity, downward review of petrol pump price and electricity tariff which formed the very basis of electoral victory in 2015 and 2019.

Latimore Oghenesivbe who is also the Executive Assistant on Communications to the Vice Presidential Candidate of PDP, assured that the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, are trusted leaders with the wealth of experience required to reset, rebuild Nigeria and the nation’s economy despite the huge damage already done to Nigeria by APC national government.

PDP noted that the APC national government under President Mohmmadu Buhari will leave Nigerians poorer with debt burden of N77 trillion, which translates to acute poverty, hunger and retrogression, while urging eligible voters in Nigeria to vote Atiku and Okowa to reset and to rebuild Nigeria.

Let’s join hands to rebuild Nigeria, Diri, Obaseki urge G5 Governors

Bayelsa Governor, Douye Diri and his Edo counterpart, Godwin Obaseki, on Tuesday, called on the G5 Governors of  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join hands with the party in its rescue mission to rebuild the country.

The governors made the call in an interview with journalists shortly after a courtesy visit to the PDP Vice-Presidential Candidate and Governor of Delta, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, at his home in Owa-Alero, Ika North-East Area of the state.

According to them, the PDP has not foreclosed speaking with the G5 governors because we want a strong and united party that will rekindle the hope of Nigerians.

They said that their brother governors in the G5 should be part of their party and work with every other person in the party to ensure a landslide victory for the PDP in the general elections.

“We want a united PDP and at all times, when we meet, we are always focused on the unity of the party and we are not foreclosing speaking to our brothers. Even today, we talked about that.

“We are still calling on our brothers to be part of their own party and work in unity with every other person. So, we are not foreclosing anything.

“We still want our brother governors so that we can visit them the way we have visited our colleague here in Delta, who by God’s grace, will be the next Vice President of this country,” they said.

They disclosed that they were at the country home of the PDP Vice Presidential Candidate to felicitate with him and wish him good tidings in the new year.

“We are here to visit our brother and by the grace of God, the incoming Vice President of the country to wish him good tidings, wish him well for the new year and pray that God Almighty will make our dreams come through this new year,” they said.

Earlier in an interview with journalists, the Delta North Senatorial candidate of the PDP, Prince Ned Nwoko, enjoined the G5 governors to sheath their swords and join hands in enhancing the electoral fortunes of the party in this year’s general election, even as he expressed optimism that the PDP will emerge victorious at the polls.

2023: Obi endorsement by Obasanjo can’t affect Atiku-Okowa’s landslide victory – PDP

…donates Sheriff-Onyeme PDP branded wrappers to CMPG Members.

Assistant Deputy Director, Media and Publicity, Campaign Council Management Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, PDP, in Delta State, Fred Oghenesivbe has said that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, will emerge winners of the 2023 presidential election despite the infamous endorsement of Mr Peter Obi by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Oghenesivbe gave the assurance while speaking to newsmen at the LGA Campaign rally in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta North Senatorial District on Tuesday.

He noted that Chief Obasanjo only exercised his constitutional rights of freedom of association entrenched in Chapter four of the 1999 constitutional, as amended, by supporting the presidential candidate of his choice.

Barrister Oghenesivbe who is also the Executive Assistant on Communications to the Vice Presidential Candidate of PDP, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, said the Labour Party presidential candidate does not have the required experience, competence and leadership skills to provide soultions to the many problems of Nigeria occasioned by APC bad governance under President Mohmmadu Buhari.

He assured that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Okowa, will reset and rebuild Nigeria, as encapsulated in Atiku’s manifesto titled: “My Covenant With Nigerians,” urging eligible voters in Nigeria to vote Atiku-Okowa ticket in 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

In a related development, Oghenesivbe urged members of the Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, to remain focused on their assigned responsibility of projecting the Atiku-Okowa and Sheriff-Onyeme presidential and government tickets via the mass media.

He gave the charge on Monday in Asaba while donating branded Sheriff-Onyeme wrappers to members of the group at Government House, saying that the present economic misfortunes in Nigeria must be addressed through Atiku’s manifesto titled “My Covenant With Nigerians.”

He appealed to CMPG members to make good use of the Sheriff-Onyeme clothes at the various campaign rallies, especially at the Presidential campaign scheduled to hold on 24th January, this year at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba.

AFRICAN CULTURE: ON THE VERGE OF EXTINCTION – WHAT’S THE WAY FORWARD? (Part I)

By Tega Ezekiel Ughara – 19th July, 2020

Africa is the oldest continent on Earth, the cradle of civilization and has been a place of refuge in trying times.

So how did Africa got it wrong? Some say Africa is losing her culture owing to the impact of colonialism. But I am of the opinion that we should not place blame on the colonial masters. It is all our fault, Africans think they know it all, they see their tradition as uncivilized.

The Europeans also colonized India, China and some other nations of the world and these nations are still maintaining their cultural heritage till date. For instance, in Africa our wives call us by our names or even call us baby, which is against the African tradition (doctrine) and they call their pastors Mama or Papa, yet we do not see anything wrong about that. To me that is another sign of neocolonialism. They do not degrade themselves that way in China, India and other nations of the world.

We duplicate marriages (we get married multiple times), after getting married traditionally, we go for Church wedding thereby getting married twice unknowingly and degrading our tradition in the process. This is not done in India, China and other nations of the world except Africa “and we think say na open eye,” it is a pity. So we should not blame the Europeans, it is all our fault. In China, India, etc they do not believe in western tradition, after their traditional wedding, they do not undergo Church wedding again, because they know that Church wedding is the European traditional wedding and moreover it was in a traditional wedding in Cana that Jesus Christ performed his first miracle by transforming water into wine. When the Christians in China, India, etc get married traditionally they only go to Church for their thanksgiving but in Africa the reverse is the case.

Having said that, I would like to advise our people to maintain their traditions like the Indians, Chinese, and some other nations of the world that can reach God through their traditional religions and still maintain their norms and values till date, though there are Christians there too.
